Rare Books and Special Collections can be found in institutions across the globe. The Palmer School's curriculum prepares students for professional roles in research libraries, cultural organizations, and the antiquarian book market. Participants gain expertise in rare book management, bibliographic history, specialized cataloging methods, conservation practices, archival procedures, and exhibition design. Through site visits, consultations with specialists, and hands-on internships, students engage with prominent collections. The program leverages the extensive rare book resources available in the New York metropolitan region. Learners will examine unique collections featuring films, posters, photographs, cartographic materials, artworks, printed memorabilia, and other cultural artifacts. Additional specialized courses in bibliographic studies are offered through the Palmer School's exclusive collaboration with the University of Virginia's Rare Book School.
