The Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science is a 52-credit graduate program that includes a mandatory 6-month full-time clinical rotation. While students can start part-time, full-time enrollment is necessary to successfully finish the degree.
Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) are nationally certified and New York State-licensed professionals who work across multiple laboratory specialties such as hematology, microbiology, blood banking, clinical chemistry, immunology, and molecular testing (as generalists). These experts contribute significantly to identifying, diagnosing, and managing medical conditions. Utilizing advanced laboratory technology, CLS generalists conduct analyses of cellular samples, bloodwork, and bodily fluids to identify irregularities. They provide crucial diagnostic data that physicians rely on to establish and track patient treatment plans. The program aims to surpass NAACLS standards for certification exam success, graduation rates, and job placement. It combines advanced theoretical knowledge with hands-on technical training in campus simulation labs.
