The Advanced Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling serves as a licensure-eligible bridge program authorized by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Prospective students need a master's degree in school counseling or a similar counseling field, along with specific core coursework outlined in New York's mental health counselor licensing requirements. Applicants must possess at least 60 graduate credits in designated subject areas to be eligible for licensure. Depending on their prior graduate credits, some candidates may need to complete 18-24 additional credits to fulfill the state's 60-credit minimum requirement.
