Lewis' Biology degree program provides an ideal foundation for pursuing an Allied Health degree. Your faculty advisor will collaborate with you to tailor the Biology coursework to align with your future professional goals. With satisfactory academic performance, you can complete specialized clinical bachelor's programs in four years and master's programs in five years. As a sonographer, you'll operate advanced technology to create internal patient images using ultrasound waves - enabling non-invasive diagnosis. The first three years of coursework take place at Lewis University, followed by three semesters (including summer sessions) of classes and clinical rotations at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH), culminating in a Lewis University degree.
Students have the option to pursue a dual major in Biology and Diagnostic Medical Sonography. This five-year path involves four years of classes at Lewis University and a final year at NMH. Applications for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program are submitted during the fourth-year spring semester, with NMH making final admission decisions.
