Lehigh's statistics undergraduate program equips students with a strong foundation in mathematical concepts, particularly probability theory, which serves as the basis for all statistical methods. Statistical analysis is a crucial instrument across scientific research and helps interpret random events. Recently, Lehigh graduates about 10-15 mathematics majors annually, ensuring intimate class sizes that foster close relationships between students and faculty. Graduates often pursue advanced studies at prestigious institutions or build careers as actuaries, financial analysts, tech professionals, or educators. The university offers three calculus tracks: Calculus 21, 22, 23 (the most popular sequence for STEM students), Honors Calculus 31, 32, 33 (a rigorous option for high-achieving students, typically those with SAT Math scores above 700), and Survey of Calculus 51, 52 (a streamlined option). Business students typically enroll in Calculus with Business Applications (81) or Calculus 21, while life sciences students generally complete the 51-52 sequence. Advanced placement options include College Board AP exams or departmental placement tests.
