The Chinese major consists of 36 credit hours: at least 24 credits from Chinese-taught courses, along with 8 credits from upper-level Chinese language and literature classes (designated as CHIN). Students may incorporate English-language courses on Chinese literature and history from MLL into their major, plus up to two approved courses from other departments like International Relations or Political Science that focus on China. Lehigh's Chinese program offers both language instruction and English-based courses covering Chinese literature and history for undergraduate majors and minors.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants must be completing or have completed the equivalent of 12 years of education (primary and secondary) or the program of study that leaves them eligible for admission to university-level study in the educational system in which they are enrolled. For example, students who are completing or who have only completed O level or GCSE/IGCSE study are not eligible to apply and should do so when they are completing the final year of A level study, or the equivalent.
