The Master of Education in Special Education equips students with in-depth knowledge of current research and practical approaches in the field. Program participants often seek to enhance their professional skills, advance their careers, take on leadership positions, drive advocacy efforts, or prepare for doctoral studies. While an undergraduate degree in special education or education isn't required for admission, applicants should demonstrate strong interest in expanding their expertise in special education.
This M.Ed. program doesn't lead to teacher certification, though some courses may apply toward licensure requirements. Those pursuing both the degree and certification must apply separately to both the master's program and the non-degree licensure preparation track.
The Moderate/Intensive Educational Needs specialization addresses the requirements of students needing significant curriculum adaptations or comprehensive special education services.
