The Criminology and Justice Studies Bachelor of Arts program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of crime, law, and justice systems. Instructors examine criminal behavior, social deviance, and societal responses through lenses of sociology, political science, psychology, and conventional criminal justice perspectives. The coursework establishes a solid foundation in criminal justice institutions while incorporating criminological theories and diversity studies that illuminate the intricate connections between individuals, communities, and legal systems. The curriculum emphasizes developing strong writing abilities and critical thinking skills, with internship opportunities available for practical experience.
With guidance from faculty advisors or the undergraduate coordinator, students choose at least one specialization area. These academic consultations help learners select optimal course combinations to best prepare for professional paths or advanced studies.
The Justice and Human Relations focus caters to students pursuing careers in social services, mental health professions, victim support services, youth justice systems, criminal justice public relations, community development, or equity initiatives. (Note that many such professions require additional interdisciplinary training or graduate-level specialization.)
