To qualify for the Civil Engineering graduate program, applicants must hold a bachelor of science degree from an accredited civil engineering program and demonstrate the capacity for successful graduate-level work. Candidates without a civil engineering degree may still be considered if their prior studies align closely with a civil engineering specialization and they fulfill foundational undergraduate coursework in the field.
The program mandates 90 semester hours of graduate credit. Those entering with a relevant master's degree may apply 30 credits from that degree toward the doctoral requirement.
Bachelor's degree holders can choose a study path involving either a master's thesis or report in their chosen specialization. Master's degree entrants must design an original research project and produce a doctoral dissertation with supervision from College of Engineering faculty.
