The fashion studies curriculum offers two specialized tracks: fashion business and fashion design. This program equips students for careers in design, business operations, product creation, merchandising, and retail leadership. As one of the world's largest fashion markets, the U.S. experiences strong job growth, with approximately two million retail businesses selling clothing and textile goods. The apparel production sector, encompassing both design and manufacturing, operates globally using advanced technologies.
Students in Fashion Studies gain technical expertise, critical thinking capabilities, and management skills while pursuing excellence in their chosen specialization. The curriculum covers the entire fashion supply chain, from fiber production to design, manufacturing, logistics, promotion, and store operations. K-State's program highlights the significance of ecological, financial, and societal sustainability across the fashion sector.
The program aims to cultivate innovative thinkers with strong analytical skills and to prepare capable, adaptable business professionals grounded in broad liberal arts education. Fashion studies coursework incorporates written and verbal communication, quantitative analysis, social studies, STEM subjects, and digital technology applications.
