The Peabody Tuba Studio is dedicated to pursuing excellence in every endeavor. Our distinctive method aims to unlock each student's highest potential, encouraging them to venture into unexplored creative pathways while honoring and expanding upon established traditions. At Peabody, we cultivate thoughtful, emotionally aware musicians who will become influential leaders in our discipline and society. The Tuba Studio strives for exceptional discipline, musical expression, stamina, and performance excellence. Our program equips students with the artistic and technical proficiency needed for diverse tuba performance contexts, including solo repertoire, chamber music, orchestral and band settings, as well as innovative collaborative projects. Tuba Studio members benefit from 14 hours of private lessons and 14 hours of studio class participation each semester. Students collaborate with fellow brass musicians in small chamber groups, the large brass ensemble, and frequent performances with Peabody's major ensembles. Additional performance opportunities exist throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan area. The Master of Music degree program focuses on refining performance abilities, deepening knowledge of tuba literature, and broadening artistic understanding.
