The Infectious Disease track enhances the core epidemiology program by equipping students with specialized knowledge in epidemiology, analytical techniques, laboratory methods, immunology, and pathogen biology to study the complex relationships between infectious agents, their hosts, vectors, and environments. Faculty and students explore effective strategies for detecting and quantifying infections, analyzing transmission patterns, and designing interventions for both emerging and persistent infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, HPV, malaria, measles, tuberculosis, influenza, and SARS-CoV-2. Participants gain expertise through microbiology and immunology courses, advanced epidemiological methods, statistical training, and diverse infectious disease offerings across the Department of Epidemiology and other school departments. The program provides hands-on experience through faculty-guided research initiatives, both locally and globally, within the field of Infectious Disease Epidemiology.
