The Neuroscience Training Program and Department of Neuroscience were pioneers among U.S. neuroscience academic centers, founded in 1980. In the last decade alone, our faculty have mentored more than 250 PhD and MD/PhD candidates along with 500 postdoctoral researchers, collaborations that have yielded groundbreaking insights into cerebral cortex organization, neurotransmitter communication, neural and glial cell development, and brain circuitry. The Program's mission is to provide students with comprehensive neuroscience education. Our coursework covers the full spectrum of contemporary neuroscience, ranging from molecular/cellular foundations to systems/cognitive approaches, delivering an immersive training experience that positions students at the cutting edge of their chosen research field, equipping them for successful, autonomous scientific careers.
Applicants should have a B.S. or B.A. Recommended courses for entry into the program include mathematics through calculus, general physics, general biology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry. GRE's are not required.
Students must have IELTS Academic Band Score equal to 7, or a minimum score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based), and 100 (internet-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
