The Hopkins Economics Department stands at the forefront of economic theory and applied research. We prepare undergraduate students for thriving careers across academia, government, nonprofit organizations, and private industry. Through our Center for Financial Economics programs, we enhance your grasp of critical economic issues while equipping you with practical analytical tools to address real-world challenges.
Economics examines market dynamics, economic systems, and government's economic role. Our department provides a major, general minor, and specialized financial economics minor via the Center for Financial Economics. Numerous students from various disciplines complement their studies with economics coursework.
Graduates pursue diverse paths: some continue to economics graduate programs, while others enter professional schools like law or medicine. Many launch careers in finance, banking, corporate sectors, government agencies, or public service. The department's Economics Club connects students with Hopkins alumni and professionals who share insights about career opportunities for economics graduates.
