The Earth and Planetary Sciences program explores the physical, chemical, and biological mechanisms that form our planet and others. It integrates knowledge from geology, geochemistry, hydrology, ecology, geobiology, oceanography, and atmospheric sciences. This major emphasizes understanding these fundamental processes, preparing students for research careers in Earth and planetary sciences, while also serving those pursuing health-related professions.
The interdisciplinary ENVS programs (both majors and minor) provide insight into Earth's systems—both living and nonliving—and humanity's relationship with them. With a solutions-oriented approach, ENVS highlights how policy and communication can positively impact these systems. The program aims to deepen understanding of environmental challenges and equip future leaders with the skills to tackle global environmental changes.
