JMU's International Affairs program equips graduates to make a global impact. This degree offers a comprehensive worldview of critical issues confronting both the United States and the international community. Our mission is to improve policymaking and civic engagement worldwide through education, scholarly investigation, and partnerships within and beyond JMU. The International Affairs program provides interdisciplinary training for students passionate about global interconnectedness. Course requirements span political science, economics, history, language studies, and cultural education. Every student completes a culminating research project that synthesizes their accumulated knowledge in a chosen specialization. The program offers concentrations in international relations or regional studies, with comparative focus areas including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
