The biology department provides a specialized focus area within the biology major for students passionate about ecology, field studies, natural resources, environmental sciences, conservation biology, evolutionary processes, animal behavior, and organismal biology. Those selecting the ecology and environmental biology concentration must fulfill all standard biology major requirements plus these extra criteria. Courses counting toward this concentration may also apply to the major's core requirements.
Students can pursue either a four-year B.A. or B.S. in biology. The B.A. program requires intermediate foreign language proficiency plus three philosophy credits. Through its rigorous academic programs, research initiatives, and community involvement, the Biology Department cultivates exceptional learning experiences that foster analytical skills, effective communication, ethical decision-making, and professional readiness.
