The Biology Program is dedicated to offering students a comprehensive selection of courses that showcase the varied disciplines and professional opportunities within the biological sciences. Our curriculum encompasses subjects such as cellular, molecular, and organismal biology, along with ecology, evolution, health sciences, biotechnology, and environmental studies. These offerings enable students to pursue their biological interests, participate in hands-on laboratory and fieldwork applying scientific principles, and discover diverse career possibilities in the field. Graduates with a biology concentration may fulfill prerequisites for healthcare programs like nursing, satisfy transfer institution graduation criteria, or earn an Associate in Science degree with a focus on biology, health sciences, or environmental studies.
Alongside major-specific or health-focused core courses, foundational studies in complementary sciences are typically advised and often required for higher-level coursework. The biology department recommends students take relevant chemistry, physics, and mathematics classes alongside their biology core requirements. Prospective transfer students should consult four-year institution prerequisites or seek guidance from biology faculty or academic advisors when selecting elective courses.
