The Graduate Certificate in TESL/TEFL requires two prerequisite courses and 12 graduate credit hours. This program offers foundational training for teaching English to non-native speakers across diverse educational environments. Participants can pursue the certificate independently or combine it with a master's or doctoral degree. Applicants may transfer up to 9 credits from previous ISU graduate coursework (with grades of B or higher) completed before formal admission to the certificate program. A minimum of 3 credits must be completed after program admission, either in the same semester or subsequent terms. Qualification Requirements

Official transcripts are only required from applicants admitted to the Graduate College.
A baccalaureate degree, or equivalent from a suitably accredited college or university is required.
A statement of purpose for each major to which the applicant is applying.
A cumulative grade point average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, or equivalent, in undergraduate work or in previous graduate work is expected.
Undergraduate degree with GPA greater than 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
Minimum scores for non-native English speakers: 95 IBT* (100 preferred), 587 PBT (600 preferred), 7.0 IELTS
