The biomedical and translational health initiative explores challenges where engineering, biology, and medicine intersect, enabling us to utilize core mechanical engineering concepts to create novel scientific and technological advancements while facilitating their transition into medical practice. Combining engineering disciplines like design, production, motion analysis, material science, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, and thermal transfer with foundational sciences including chemistry, biomaterials, and life sciences, we employ both hands-on and computational approaches to decipher the physical mechanisms behind health-related phenomena. Our foundational research leverages both physical insights and data-driven analysis of critical interactions between biological and synthetic systems to address pressing issues in oncology, infectious diseases, neurological disorders, aging-related conditions, and worldwide healthcare challenges.
