Research in human factors and ergonomics involves applying knowledge of human abilities and constraints to design workplaces and consumer products. IMSE's current focus areas include 1) physical ergonomics, especially spine biomechanics, preventing lower back injuries, and addressing hand/wrist conditions like tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, and 2) cognitive engineering, concentrating on enhanced human performance and human-computer interaction.
