The Interdepartmental Genetics and Genomics (IGG) graduate program prepares students to become future genetics professionals across diverse scientific fields. Candidates pursue either Ph.D. or M.S. degrees through a combination of structured coursework and mentored research with faculty selected from fourteen participating departments. The IGG program's varied faculty provides comprehensive education from top-tier instructors while allowing students to tailor their research focus. Our Genetics and Genomics experts specialize in numerous domains, ranging from foundational molecular, cellular, organismal, and population studies to directly applicable research. Current investigations cover all principal aspects of genetic theory and experimentation, including gene regulation analysis, systems biology, developmental genetics, functional genomics, mobile genetic element research, quantitative genetics, evolutionary studies, and population genetics.
