The M.S.M.E. graduate program offers four specialized study areas. 1) Solid mechanics focuses on analyzing solids, stress, kinetics, vibrations, and structural mechanics. 2) Thermal sciences covers heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and computational fluid mechanics. 3) Biomedical engineering explores biomechanics including musculoskeletal systems, joint mechanics, dental mechanics, and medical devices. 4) Mechatronics and controls examines mechanical systems, electromechanical components, control systems, microcontrollers, sensors, and actuators.
Additionally, the Energy and Materials Track caters to students pursuing expertise in energy efficiency, facility operations, environmental standards, and renewable energy solutions.
