The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Master's program at IU School of Medicine is an intensive 11-month curriculum featuring faculty-led lectures, collaborative small-group problem-solving sessions, and student-driven seminar courses during fall and spring terms. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of biochemistry while developing practical skills applicable to careers in biomedical research, industry, or academia. The program also serves as a strong foundation for further graduate studies, with both thesis and non-thesis tracks available.
Indiana University School of Medicine's Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department brings together an accomplished group of researchers and educators. Departmental investigations center on revealing the principles of core biological functions and the molecular origins of significant health challenges such as diabetes, cancer, neurological conditions, infectious diseases, immune system disorders, heart-related issues, and alcohol dependence. This collaborative academic setting fosters productive interactions among students and faculty across departmental boundaries.
A baccalaureate degree (typically in biology, chemistry or physics) that includes calculus and organic chemistry coursework is required for admission into this program.
