A Medical Dosimetrist plays a crucial role in the radiation oncology team, possessing expertise in radiation therapy equipment, brachytherapy procedures, and collaborating with medical physicists and oncologists to calculate radiation doses and distributions.

The Medical Dosimetry Graduate Certificate Program spans twelve months, starting each year in Summer Session II (typically late June). As one of only 17 JRCERT-accredited programs in the U.S., it requires 26 credit hours for 2016 graduates and 29 credit hours for subsequent classes.

This IU program provides comprehensive training in various treatment planning methods including 3D conformal therapy, IMRT, SBRT, VMAT, and brachytherapy. Students gain hands-on experience through rotations at three Indiana clinical sites: IU Health Simon Cancer Center, IU Health Methodist Hospital, and IU Health Bloomington Cancer Center.

This is an on-site only program requiring Indiana-based clinical rotations at affiliated facilities. While students may maintain outside employment, full-time in-person attendance is mandatory, with no online course options currently available.
