The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science is an Indiana University program provided through the Department of Earth Sciences, collaborating with the Department of Public Health and the School of Liberal Arts.
This curriculum equips students for advanced academic pursuits or diverse professional opportunities in government agencies, private sector organizations, and consulting companies. The program features three specialized tracks.
Earth and Water Resources Focus
This track explores the dynamic relationships between terrestrial systems, soil composition, and aquatic environments, emphasizing their role in maintaining ecological balance. Graduates gain quantitative expertise in soil science, groundwater studies, and biogeochemical cycles, along with knowledge of biological systems, resource conservation methods, and sophisticated analytical approaches for environmental evaluations.
Environmental Management Focus
Designed for students interested in contamination control across atmospheric, terrestrial, and aquatic systems, this track provides both conceptual knowledge and practical abilities. Graduates develop competencies in hazard assessment, pollutant behavior analysis, impact evaluation, and the design of environmental protection initiatives.
Environmental Geospatial Technologies Focus
This concentration establishes fundamental principles and advanced capabilities in spatial analysis methods employing satellite/airborne imaging, GIS platforms, and GPS systems. Students master the combined application of these technologies for addressing challenges in environmental pattern recognition and predictive modeling.
Students must have earned a diploma from an accredited high school before you enroll at IUPUI.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
Students scoring TOEFL 60+ or IELTS 5.5+ are eligible for admission but should anticipate taking additional English for Academic Purposes courses along with their academic program.
