While existing majors adequately serve most students, certain individuals have academic pursuits that don't align with current programs or conventional academic boundaries. The School of Liberal Arts' Individualized Major Program (IMP) caters to these students. It's designed for dedicated, independent learners seeking to explore traditional disciplines or interdisciplinary fields not currently offered at IUPUI, as well as those wishing to create custom interdisciplinary majors tailored to their personal experiences, interests, and goals. The IMP also accommodates transfer students looking to continue specialized studies in areas where IUPUI has faculty knowledge but no formal degree program.
For those passionate about deeply studying multiple disciplines across the curriculum, a customized individualized major might be the perfect solution.
Choosing an individualized major enables you to integrate diverse interests into a unified academic plan that represents your unique identity. You'll collaborate with an advisor and faculty to develop your specialized course of study - essentially crafting your own professional journey.
Students must have earned a diploma from an accredited high school before you enroll at IUPUI.
ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
Students scoring TOEFL 60+ or IELTS 5.5+ are eligible for admission but should anticipate taking additional English for Academic Purposes courses along with their academic program.
