For educators seeking to broaden their teaching qualifications, the Special Education Certificate of Recognition (COR) provides an excellent opportunity. This 18-credit program is tailored for teachers who already hold initial certifications in fields like early childhood education, English education, or art education.
IUP delivers this program through a flexible hybrid model, combining in-person and online learning, while also offering two alternative pathways: the MEd in Special Education with certification or the MEd in Special Education without certification.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
Obtaining Special Education Certification without pursuing the full MEd degree.
Studying subjects covering student disability characteristics, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
Specializing in either pre-K-8th grade or 7th-12th grade levels. Pre-K-8th grade students will explore multidisciplinary collaboration, while 7th-12th grade students will examine transition services.
Participating in a summer practicum experience.
