As a Nutrition major following the Dietetics pathway at IUP, you'll experience a well-rounded combination of excellent coursework while building a solid foundation for a future as a dietitian. The dietetics program trains professionals to effectively communicate food and nutrition science to diverse populations. This undergraduate curriculum leads to a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and equips you for various career paths in healthcare, food service management, the food sector, public health, community outreach, culinary nutrition, and nutritional research.
Hands-on learning opportunities are available through initiatives like Nutrition Connection, a peer-led nutrition counseling service located in the Center for Health and Well-Being, operated by undergraduate students taking Nutrition Counseling and Education courses.
When enrolled in Medical Nutrition Therapy, students collaborate across disciplines through simulations with nursing and speech-language pathology programs.
IUP's Food and Nutrition Department also hosts an engaged student group, the Student Association of Nutrition and Dietetics, where undergraduates can develop leadership skills, participate in community nutrition education, engage in nutrition programming, and connect with fellow majors.
