The business education program focuses on equipping future educators with the skills and certification needed to teach students of various ages for success in business settings.
This major caters to individuals aspiring to teach in public elementary, middle, and high schools, vocational-technical institutions, private business schools, or corporate training environments. Students can specialize in one of these certification areas: marketing education or business, computer, and information technology.
Applicants must meet Pennsylvania's minimum GPA requirements for teacher education admission, departmental major courses, and student teaching. Certification candidates must also pass both the core and specialization portions of the Praxis exams.
Prior to graduation, all business education students must provide proof of 500 hours of relevant business work experience. This requirement can be fulfilled through summer employment, on-campus office work during the academic year, or by submitting documentation of prior qualifying experience.
