Collaborating with the School of Public Health (SPH), we provide a three-year dual degree program leading to both an M.A. and M.P.H. This initiative addresses the increasing demand for public health professionals equipped with specialized knowledge about Africa and research expertise in humanities and social sciences. To earn the dual M.A./M.P.H., students must complete at least 60 graduate-level credit hours, with both degrees conferred together. Each participant receives guidance from both departments through assigned mentors or advisors. The thesis committee requires representation from both academic units, with co-chairs overseeing the research project.
Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of such proficiency by the time they apply for admission. Normally this is done by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Results of this test should be submitted as part of the application for admission.
