Applicants should demonstrate comprehensive physics knowledge and readiness to develop teaching proficiency during their IU tenure. Research specialties encompass astrophysics, atomic physics, biophysics, condensed matter physics, particle physics, mathematical physics, and nuclear physics, with a dedicated biophysics program featuring distinct curriculum requirements.

Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25
Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of such proficiency by the time they apply for admission. Normally this is done by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Results of this test should be submitted as part of the application for admission.
