This program equips you to uncover new insights through investigative studies and address real-world challenges via applied research. Graduates often pursue teaching or research roles at universities, or join research teams in private or public R&D institutions. While most doctoral candidates hold a master's degree in our discipline, exceptions may be made. Those entering without an IST master's must complete the core graduate courses (R511, R521, R541, R561) early in their academic journey. Full-time enrollment and active participation in scholarly activities are mandatory for all doctoral candidates.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree / Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. While course work is delivered primarily online, students will be required to attend the IST Annual Conference held in the spring during the first year they are in the program.
