The field of human-computer interaction design (HCI/d) unlocks incredible opportunities, ranging from large-scale collaborative platforms like Wikipedia to commonplace advancements such as fitness monitoring apps. However, digital interfaces also play a role in significant societal challenges, including electronic waste, data privacy issues, and digital inequality. This program aims to transform your perspective. You'll move past simply applying technology to address issues, instead crafting digital experiences that are practical, user-friendly, and potentially joyful for people. Through this curriculum, you'll develop a designer's mindset. HCI/d research focuses more on facilitating improvements—on shaping preferable future scenarios—than documenting historical or current states. Interaction design enables numerous innovations, including: large-scale cooperative systems exemplified by Wikipedia, worldwide manufacturing networks as demonstrated by maker communities, AR/VR applications in education, novel approaches to civic engagement, daily life enhancements like wellness trackers, and interactive entertainment such as video games.
