Our Computer Science Ph.D. program enables you to pursue both theoretical and applied research across diverse computer science specialties or interdisciplinary areas combining computer science with fields like biology, cognitive science, or statistics. As part of one of the country's leading computer science departments, you'll undertake challenging coursework to build a solid foundation, study essential subjects including artificial intelligence and systems, pursue personal interests through independent research and a minor concentration, and gain practical experience through internships. Following this comprehensive training, you'll take a qualifying examination and develop a dissertation on your chosen research topic. Many of our doctoral candidates complete summer or term internships with major tech firms such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft. Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25
Applicants whose native language is not English should submit proof of such proficiency by the time they apply for admission. Normally this is done by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Results of this test should be submitted as part of the application for admission.
