A major in economic consulting opens up a wide path of careers, especially in the consulting and financial services industries. Economic consultants use economic theory to make business decisions and share forecasts that guide organizations. Graduates with economic consulting majors are in high demand: About 95 percent of seniors find jobs before graduation. Some will start exciting and challenging careers right after graduation, while other students choose to go to law school. In addition, economic consulting students master hard skills, including analytical thinking and using statistical and econometric tools, to solve problems with real business applications. They learn to analyze the business environment, taking into account antitrust laws and governmental regulations, as well as challenges and opportunities that nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) represent for businesses.
