Although we rely on evolving technologies and can utilize various media and techniques for artistic production, Wood-Metal Design focuses on handcrafted works that preserve the vital connection to materials and methods fundamental to human creativity in this field. The Wood-Metal Design program consists of three courses. Each class combines specialized technical skills with conceptual exploration, covering both traditional fabrication approaches and contemporary making practices. Students in Wood-Metal Design will work with numerous proven techniques, such as: soldering, shaping, basic joinery, laminating, mold creation, casting, and more. The wood/metals studio serves as a comprehensive workspace for fine woodworking and small-scale metal fabrication.
