Our nationally recognized and accredited French Teacher Education program equips graduates for K-12 instruction while providing an interdisciplinary approach to studying the rich cultural heritage of French-speaking communities worldwide. Students explore language, literature, arts, politics, philosophy, and various areas of human creativity and intellectual pursuit. Through intimate seminars with faculty and study abroad opportunities in Angers, Grenoble (France), or Québec (Canada), participants gain immersive experiences. The program features co-curricular activities like Pi Delta Phi (French Honor Society), conversation groups, guest speakers, service projects, and film screenings to enhance language skills beyond traditional coursework. Graduates earn certification to teach French in Illinois K-12 schools and 32 reciprocal states, with strong employment prospects as school administrators frequently seek our program's qualified graduates. Illinois State University's French Teacher Education develops highly skilled educators prepared to apply their language proficiency and cultural understanding across diverse professional settings.
