The printmaking program at Illinois State University provides an outstanding creative atmosphere, blending dedicated faculty and staff with extensive resources and collaborative possibilities. This comprehensive program features three core components: intaglio, lithography, and the Normal Editions Workshop, each with specialized instructors and dedicated workspaces. The area also includes a digital/photo resource room and a compact letterpress studio. Students explore diverse printmaking techniques ranging from traditional methods like intaglio, lithography, monotype/monoprint, relief, and collagraph to contemporary digital and photomechanical processes. Balancing theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, the faculty focus on fostering each student's artistic growth through personalized instruction that supports the evolution of their creative portfolio. The Normal Editions Workshop enhances the experience by offering students opportunities to engage with visiting artists and gain professional printshop experience.
