Applied mathematics emerges from real-world challenges in science, engineering, and societal needs. As an applied mathematician, you'll develop versatile problem-solving skills applicable to diverse professional domains through multiple mathematical approaches. For instance, developing multicriteria decision-making techniques draws upon discrete mathematics and statistical knowledge. Forecasting financial market trends involves probability theory, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques. Studying fluid dynamics around solid objects demands computational methods and analytical expertise. An applied mathematics education opens doors to opportunities in insurance, tech manufacturing, supply chain management, pharmaceutical research, and other industries.

Illinois Tech's hands-on learning methodology effectively equips applied mathematics students to maximize their capabilities. This collaborative approach brings together interdisciplinary student teams to tackle complex problems, broadening learners' exposure to wide-ranging academic disciplines.
