The Mechanical Engineering master's program offers in-depth study (through analytical, computational, and experimental methods) focusing on thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, energy systems, vibrations, engineering mechanics, and related measurement techniques. This curriculum equips students for higher-level positions in mechanical engineering across industrial, research, and development sectors. It also establishes a strong foundation for pursuing doctoral studies in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines. Available at both Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses, the program primarily utilizes distance learning technologies with some in-person components. Graduates will gain expertise in advanced principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, energy systems, vibrations, engineering mechanics, measurement techniques, and applied mathematics. The program develops graduates' capacity to integrate and implement these advanced concepts in practical mechanical engineering solutions while adhering to safety and ethical standards. Students will also refine their ability to clearly communicate technical concepts through both written and oral presentations.
