The Radiographic Science program prepares students to become professional radiologic technologists equipped with the technical abilities and knowledge needed in medical imaging environments. Radiologic technologists are essential members of healthcare teams. With technology advancing quickly in healthcare, the need for skilled professionals is growing. Idaho State University’s program is built on the principle that classroom learning and hands-on clinical practice should occur simultaneously to support continuous learning. Throughout the program, students learn in labs and immediately apply those skills in clinical settings each week. In the classroom, they gain the theoretical foundation required for technologist roles. They then move to lab sessions, where they practice technical skills using phantoms and simulations. As they advance, students refine their abilities by working alongside technologists in real clinical environments. Another distinctive aspect is that several courses are taught by faculty from Physics, Biology, and Health Care Administration, a feature uncommon in most Radiographic Science programs. We believe learning from specialists helps students become experts themselves. By graduation, students are prepared to enter the field with confidence.
