The Bachelor of Science in Music program focuses on musical studies while incorporating science and math electives. The Music Department provides degree options including Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music in Commercial Music, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Education in Music Education. Music majors enroll in courses that build a comprehensive foundation for careers in teaching, performing, audio tech/production, advanced studies, and other music professions. All university students can join musical ensembles such as Wind Ensemble/Symphonic Band, Marching Band/Basketball Band, Idaho State-Civic Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber/Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, Jazz Big Band, Video Game Music Ensemble, and various chamber groups for woodwind, brass, percussion, string, vocal, and keyboard instruments. ISU's music program offers diverse experiences with accomplished faculty and visiting artists at the renowned L. E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center, a cutting-edge venue recognized among the country's finest performance spaces.
