This program provides an alternative path within the Sociology major, allowing students to focus on Criminology through specialized electives. By selecting this track, Sociology majors can concentrate on their specific interests, create stronger connections between Sociology courses, establish study groups with peers in the same track, and develop a professional profile highlighting their Criminology specialization.
To earn this certificate, students must complete all standard Sociology major requirements, 15 credits of mandatory Criminology courses, designated general education courses, and two Sociology electives from a recommended list.
While the certificate won't appear on academic transcripts, students who complete this track and submit the required form will receive official recognition of their specialization. The Department recommends that graduates include this track designation on their professional resumes following their major listing.
