The examination of governance and human decision-making represents both one of humanity's oldest pursuits and one of the newest social science disciplines. Political exploration traces back to civilization's earliest records, as people have continually sought to understand governmental structures, leadership authority, civic responsibilities, and policy impacts. While these traditional questions remain relevant, modern research now incorporates scientific political analysis using contemporary methodologies shared across social sciences. Current approaches prioritize methodical investigation, stringent evidence requirements, cross-cultural comparisons, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The Political Science Department provides degree programs including Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Public Administration, and Doctor of Arts. For undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor degrees, options include a political science major or pre-law concentration. The pre-law track maintains flexible requirements, with an advisory committee available to help students tailor coursework to their specific academic and professional goals.
