The Department of English and Philosophy provides comprehensive programs in two academic fields. English programs enhance writing abilities, investigate human experiences through literary works, and analyze linguistic structures. Philosophy classes explore fundamental questions about existence, methods of gaining knowledge, and principles guiding moral decisions.

Students can pursue a B.A. or M.A. in English, a Ph.D. in English and Teaching of English, or a B.A. in philosophy. Courses in these subjects also enrich the educational experience and personal growth of students across all majors.

Graduates with bachelor's degrees in English or philosophy gain qualifications for advanced academic programs, professional training in fields like journalism, law, or healthcare, and diverse career opportunities in public service, corporate sectors, and industrial fields requiring well-rounded liberal arts knowledge along with sharp analytical, research, and communication abilities. Certified English graduates qualify for teaching positions in K-12 education.
