The Bachelor of Arts in Biology program caters to students with wide-ranging interests in the Biological Sciences, offering significant flexibility to tailor their academic journey. This program cultivates comprehension of key biological principles and scientific inquiry methods. Students complete foundational B.A. Biology Core courses before specializing in either Biological Education or Natural History. The Department of Biological Sciences has structured its undergraduate programs to emphasize specific competencies that provide a robust base for students' professional aspirations. Those pursuing any of our four bachelor's degree options gain access to numerous opportunities that enhance preparation for technical/scientific careers, graduate studies, or professional programs. Notably, ISU ranks as Idaho's leader in health professions education, with Biology majors focusing on Biomedical Sciences (BMS) significantly improving their professional school admission prospects. Our medical school (M.D./D.O.) applicant acceptance rate exceeds 90%, nearly double the national average.
