The Associate of Science (A.S.) in Sign Language Studies (SLS) is a two-year program intended for students seeking a transitional degree before pursuing fields like Interpreting, Health Care, Business, or Education. This degree emphasizes American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency through classroom instruction and lab sessions, which create an intimate learning environment for personalized instructor support. The A.S. in SLS is exclusively available at our Pocatello location. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders provides three degree options: an Associate of Science in Sign Language Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Sign Language Interpreting, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders with specializations in Pre-Audiology or Pre-Speech-Language Pathology. These programs equip students with essential knowledge and skills for careers in educational institutions, healthcare facilities, government agencies, nursing homes, private practices, and other professional settings.
