We develop culturally aware graduates who are equipped to take on leadership positions as school psychologists, researchers, and professionals working alongside educators, children, and families to enhance student learning and growth. Our students utilize research to advance cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes for all youth.
Howard's Ph.D. in School Psychology trains professionals to foster learning and development across diverse social contexts and systems. The program excels in multicultural education while emphasizing core foundations in school psychology theory, learning principles, and biological, social, and cognitive-emotional developmental frameworks. Our approach treats research and practice as interdependent, cyclical processes, maintaining that psychologists must analyze behavior through both micro (immediate influences) and macro (family, community, belief systems, historical factors) lenses, recognizing their dynamic interplay in shaping children's educational and psychological experiences.
