The Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree prepares students for the Music Therapy Board Certification Exam. During their first year, all Music Therapy majors must pass a guitar proficiency test to continue in the program. This assessment occurs within the Methods and Techniques in Music Therapy class. Upon finishing all university coursework, students undertake a clinical internship at an AMTA-recognized facility. With the program coordinator's approval to start the internship, graduates become eligible for the certification exam. Those holding a music bachelor's degree can enter the program through tailored plans meeting all degree requirements. Transfer students or candidates pursuing a second bachelor's must audition, transfer eligible credits (up to 96 credits with C or better from accredited institutions), and consult with the program coordinator for admission.
